RuntimeError: maximum recursion depth exceeded when launching ipython

f.boulahya@brgm.fr
Dear all,

I have installed ipython module within anaconda 2.4.0 on a CentOS release 6.4 (conda install + conda update). I have no error during installation but when I start iPython I have the following message : RuntimeError: maximum recursion depth exceeded. I also try an installation thanks to pip but I have the same behaviour.
Any ideas?

In advance, thanks.

Can you publish the traceback itself, so we can see what call is hitting this?

Thanks for your answers.

Here is the complete error message when I use ipython qtconsole : ipython_qtconsole.txt and here is the one when I use ipython console ipython_console.txt

If I run iptest, 2 groups fail : core and lib  : iptest.txt

In advance thanks,

Can you launch regular `ipython` at all?

Are you on a shared filesystem? If so, you might try adding:

# ipython_config.py
c.HistoryAccessor.hist_file = '/path/to/some/local/history.sqlite'

to that ipython_config.py, where the path is a location on a disk physically in the computer.

Re: RuntimeError: maximum recursion depth exceeded when launching ipython

f.boulahya@brgm.fr
Thanks, that's it : we use a Lustre file system.

But when I try to add this line (with single quotes, double quotes, or without) I have another error.
So as commented in the ipython_config.py I tried to launch ipython --HistoryManager.hist_file=/tmp/ipython_hist.sqlite and that's ok.
So the proper syntax is c.HistoryManager.hist_file = '/path/to/some/local/history.sqlite'

Thanks!
Have a good day,

Faïza

Yup, sorry, my email accidentally added some smart quotes.

Thanks!
