Windows installers for PyQt5 and Python2?

Michael Hipp-2
Are there any Windows binary installers for PyQt5 and Python 2.7?

Thanks,
Michael

No, and I don't intend to provide any.

You might want to keep an eye on
http://www.lfd.uci.edu/~gohlke/pythonlibs/#pyqt. I don't know if the
maintainer intends to create installers for PyQt5, but there are
currently  installers for PyQt4.9 available for Python2.6 through
Python3.3. A great site for Windows binaries in general.

Thanks. Any particular reason?

Other libraries that I must use are still py2. I'd like to evaluate
PyQt5 (and possibly invest in a commercial license). An installer would
make that more feasible.

Michael

1. Incompatibilities between dependencies and compiler versions - there
would be no support for QtWebKit.

2. I'm trying to limit the total number of installer I maintain.

3. I'm doing my bit to encourage people to move to Py3.

PyQt5 for Py2 is fully supported, so there is nothing to stop anybody else
doing the work.

Phil,

Are the steps needs to create an installer documented?

Thanks

Not as such, but I'm happy to answer questions.
